2014
In 2014, I was very fortunate to have participated in some really outstanding exhibitions. My sincere thanks to Phillip Michael Hook, Associate Professor at the University of South Dakota who curated SHADES: Contemporary Drawing in the spring, having as its theme participants who create drawings as an end product in addition to using it responsively in their process. I was fortunate to visit USD for the reception to meet some of the other artists in the exhibition and meet with students and faculty - Mike Sleadd, Chris Gantz, and Alison Denyer.
Additionally, I was pleased to exhibit my work in a solo show at the Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY.
I want to sincerely thank internationally recognized artist and figurative painter, Jerome Witkin, juror for the Texas National 2014 Exhibition at the Cole Art Center, Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX for selecting my work for the first place monetary award from among many other strong artists in the show and acquiring the piece above for his personal collection.
My thanks to Mike Sleadd, Scott McMahon, the faculty, staff and students of Columbia College in my home state of Missouri. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to interact with the community in conjunction with my solo exhibition there, especially the chance to conduct a public drawing demonstration over two days. Upon resolving the piece, I am donating it to the Sydney Larson Gallery and their collection.
